Current statistics regarding social media use show that there are over 1.5 billion users on Facebook and over 300 million active twitter users. If educational leaders use these tools to tell their school or district story, they can reach well over 75% of their community in an instant.

For the past 3 years the West Bridgewater Public Schools has been using Facebook and twitter to improve community support, engagement and communication, while creating a positive brand for the district.

This session will give an overview of the whys and hows of building a bigger social presence for your school or district through the use of Facebook and twitter. Topics will include but may not be limited to ; The benefits of a strong social presence, how to get started, building an audience, strategies of posting, and tips for success.

Dr. Patty Oakley

Superintendent, West Bridgewater Public Schools
Dr. Patty Oakley has been Superintendent for the West Bridgewater Public Schools for 10 years. Prior experience includes PK - 12 curriculum director, science and math curriculum coordinator, teacher and coach. She is passionate about the integration of technology in schools and has led the initiative to make West Bridgewater a 1:1 district pk-12. Patty was awarded the MassCue Administrator award in 2012.
